FBE Lisbon Meeting. Presentation I Apresentação
Welcome Message
I have the pleasure to announce the first joint Conference organised by the FBE and the CCBE.
Two years ago, both institutions decided to work together on the organisation of a Conference to assess the current situation of the legal profession. The CCBE represents the National Bars/Law Societies and the FBE represents the local Bars. Thus, they are complementary institutions that are now joining forces to defend the rights of citizens by upholding the position of the legal profession.
For the first time, on 25th October in Lisbon, we will have the opportunity to take an inter-organisational view of several current topics.
You will find attached the scientific program. The speakers and topics selected will guarantee a timely analysis of the state and regulations of the European Legal profession.
The General Assembly will be held on the 26th October. On this occasion we have reserved considerable time (2 hours) for the “Fôrum des Bâtonniers – The Presidents forum”, where the Bar representatives can share their projects and points of interest. For this reason, I would like to encourage you to attend this special Congress, where we shall also be discussing the particular challenges of each Bar.
We would be delighted to welcome you, and those responsible for Ethics and “Deontology” in your Bar in order to explore possible new approaches.
This difficult political period in Europe needs a strong legal profession that will fight against the undermining of individual and/or collective rights.
I look forward to meeting you in Lisbon!
Best wishes.
Silvia Salinas, FBE President
